OK, I have heard all kinds of hype about Twitter. I still can't figure out what it really does. Is it any different from the status updates on Facebook? I am just curious. So, if you read this and also Twitter, drop me a comment to let me know what Twitter really is. I would really appreciate it!

I Need Some Advice!
Like I said in my last post, Andrew and I are going through the process of registering. And I just have to say I am so excited about it! I know I must be driving him crazy, though. You see, when I went in the hospital with Sydney (at 25 weeks), we had not even looked at anything in the store yet. So, I sat in my hospital bed on a really slow internet connection and looked for hours at online stores. Then, Andrew and Brook went to the stores and actually did most of the registering. He would bring the list back and I would look at things online again, but I did not actually get to choose things that I could see in person.
Needless to say, I am so pumped about it this time! My problem is this...I know nothing about what kind of things we need to register for. I was so excited when my friend, Nicole, posted a link to a list of Top 10 Most Useless Baby Items. I was actually surprised at some of the things on the list because I was planning on getting several.
So, all of you experienced moms out there, please help me out! What things do you think are must haves for a new mom? What things are just hype? What things should I register for that may not be obvious right off the bat? I would really appreciate any feedback you can supply!

Help a New Mom Out!
I am in dire need of some good advice. We are working on getting the baby's nursery in order since we bought our crib about a week ago. The room we are using has been in use as my craft room/office.
Here is my dilemma...I don't have a lot of room in our other bedroom to put craft stuff. I do, however, have a big closet (the biggest in the house, of course) in the nursery. I know I will not need to use it for the baby's things. The thought I had is to put my craft stuff in that closet. However, I am wondering if I will regret that. For instance, if I put the baby down for a nap and then want to work on something from that closet, will that wake the baby up? Or, if I end up needing more room for baby's stuff and the room is take up with scrapbook stuff. I just don't want to have to move everything over and over.
So, for all of you experienced moms (or opinionated non-moms) out there, what do you think? I know I am probably blowing this out of proportion, but I just can't decide what to do.

Aloha Friday #5
It is time for Aloha Friday again. As Kailani says, "In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend." I have really enjoyed joining in!
Last week, I finally made Tater Tot Casserole that I have been craving for a while. I was so excited about it! When I sat down and began eating, something was different. I mean, it was good, but it was not as good as it usually is.
Andrew and I sat and talked about what the difference could be. We went through the ingredients again, thinking about any differences in brands that I may have used. It was not until Andrew went back for seconds that he figured out what it was. He looked at me and said, "Don't you usually put cheese in this?"
That is when it hit me!
I had forgotten the cheese!
Probably the most important ingredient in Tater Tot Casserole and I left it out!
So, we had to sprinkle cheese on top of it for all of the leftovers. It turned out alright, but I felt pretty silly.
What about you?

Aloha Friday #4
It is time for Aloha Friday again. As Kailani says, "In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend." I have really enjoyed joining in!
I recently joined the Columbia House TV on DVD club. We really enjoy watching TV shows that way. We can watch whenever we want and we don't have to worry about commercials. So, this seemed like a good fit.
Anyway, one of our initial DVD's we ordered was the first season of the ThunderCats. We watched the first couple of episodes. It really got me traveling down memory lane! Here are a few (and by no means an exhaustive list) of my favorite cartoons in no particular order:
- ThunderCats
- The Smurfs
- Care Bears
- Fraggle Rock
- The Snorks
- She-Ra: Princess of Power (even though I was not allowed to watch it very often)
- Rainbow Brite
What about you?

Aloha Friday #1
I have been enjoying Aloha Friday over at An Island Life for several weeks now, but have not participated myself. But, today is the day.
Aloha Friday is a common saying in Hawaii, similar to TGIF. Basically, it is a day to relax and not think too hard. Sounds good to me! So, Kailani puts up a simple, fun question every Friday for people to answer. You can participate by simply posting your own question and then signing up on her Mr. Linky. So, here is my first Aloha Friday Question. A lot of bloggers talk about time management and everything they have to do in a day. So, my question is...
Would you give up half of what you own right now if you could permanently be fully rested after only an hour's sleep each day?I would say definitely not! And it is not because of the stuff- I mean you can always get more stuff, right? But, I just love my sleep way too much! It is a hobby for me! :) What about you?

I have put up my first poll on the sidebar of my blog. Please take a second to answer the question. If there is something other than the options listed, or if you want to tell me what things other than the top topic that you like, please tell me in the commetns of this post. It will be up until March 1 at 5:00 PM. When it closes, I will post on the results. Thanks!

Advertizements on a Blog- What do you think?
I have stayed away from running ads on my blog, because I have been afraid that it would turn people off. I am just curious, what do you think?
- When you see advertisements on a blog sidebar, do you get annoyed?
- Do you ever click on them?
- Do you have them on your site?
- Are they successful?
I have been thinking a lot about doing something to make some money using my blog, but I am afraid that it will take away from the feel of it. I don't want this to turn strictly into a "business." I mean, I seriously doubt I would make much money from it, but every little bit helps, right?
So, what are your thoughts on making money on a blog?

Works for Me Wednesday: Monster Cookies
One of the therapists I work with has a daughter, Lydia, who was born blind. They are raising money to send her to China for a special umbilical cord stem cell research treatment that has been shown to correct the problem. Every couple of weeks, our department hosts a fund raiser.
This week, we are all baking cookies and taking them in to sell 1 dozen for $5. I wanted to provide cookies that would be worth that price and would likely sell. I immediately thought of monster cookies. My sister made them one time for Christmas and they were a big hit. They make a large batch that can be eaten soon, or frozen for later. They are also very filling. Here is the recipe I used:
Monster Cookies
12 eggs
4 c. sugar
2 lb. brown sugar
1 lb. butter, softened (not butter)
3 lb. peanut butter
8 tsp. baking soda
1 tbsp. vanilla
18 c. oatmeal
1 lb. plain M&M'S®
12 oz. chocolate chips
Mix all ingredients in order given. To make Monster size cookies use an ice cream scoop to drop cookie dough onto cookie sheets, otherwise a 1/2 inch size ball makes a nice size cookie. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Makes 20 dozen cookies. You can freeze all ready baked cookies or freeze small 1/2 inch size balls of uncooked cookie dough on cookie sheet. When frozen store in freezer bag or Tupperware until ready to bake.
I cut the recipe in half because I did not think I had a container large enough to mix it all up in. As it turns out, I think I could have done it all in my roasting pan. Go figure. Anyway, I love these cookies and they are great when you need to make a lot.
To learn more about Lydia or to help out, go here. For more WFMW, go over to Shannon's.
I am curious...what is your favorite snack/dessert to make around the holidays or when you are having a lot of people in?
