Aloha Friday #5

It is time for Aloha Friday again. As Kailani says, "In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend." I have really enjoyed joining in!

Last week, I finally made Tater Tot Casserole that I have been craving for a while. I was so excited about it! When I sat down and began eating, something was different. I mean, it was good, but it was not as good as it usually is.

Andrew and I sat and talked about what the difference could be. We went through the ingredients again, thinking about any differences in brands that I may have used. It was not until Andrew went back for seconds that he figured out what it was. He looked at me and said, "Don't you usually put cheese in this?"

That is when it hit me!

I had forgotten the cheese!

Probably the most important ingredient in Tater Tot Casserole and I left it out!

So, we had to sprinkle cheese on top of it for all of the leftovers. It turned out alright, but I felt pretty silly.

What about you?

What is the biggest kitchen blunder you have committed?
Head over to An Island Life for more Aloha Friday.

Everything is better with cheese!! My biggest kitchen blunder is probably not cooking...I'm resolving to start doing that as soon as I'm married.

I'm usually good in the kitchen however just the other day I was making cookies and switched the salt and baking soda measurements. I ended up having to quadruple the recipe to keep from having to throw it out. Oh well, lot's of cookies.

I just blogged about 2 kitchen blunders this week.

But my very FIRST kitchen blunder that I remember - my older sister and I were home alone (yes our parents left us home alone), and made brownies. However, we accidently left the eggs out! They brownies were thin, thin, thin, and hard as a rock! But we poured milk over them and ate them anyway!

I always mess up one of my banana bread recipes. You have to mix half the dry ingredients with the wet and then fold in the rest of the dry at the end. Usually, I just end up mixing everything at one time. The bread comes out ok but I wonder if it would be better if I did it right.

my biggest blunder would be that cooking is always an experiment with me! i never catch the same taste of a certain food again and i never know why.

Oh, Amy! Start now! I got pretty frustrated when I got married and could not cook much. I am finally starting to get several things that I can cook well.

Biggest Kitchen Blunder.....

well, when I was in my early/mid teens, my mom would call me from work and ask me to get the chicken ready for supper. She would always say "don't forget the bleach!"

One day, when mom asked me to get the chicken ready, I moaned at her that it was too much work and the bleach smelled and I hated washing the chicken with it.

Yes, you heard me right...

I was washing the chicken with bleach.

It's a miracle no one died. lol

i kinda did the same thing. it was cheese potatoes and i somehow forgot to BUY the velveeta cheese and sour cream. the really bad part was it was Christmas day - no stores open!

luckily, i lived next door to a chef and he had a huge block of cheddar cheese and cream. it worked and you wouldn't have even known the difference. my husband just wished i had checked with him before he drove to every supermarket in the area - just to find that they were all closed.

I remember being so tired after my baby was born that I would heat water in a pot and then forget about it. The water evaporated and burned the bottom of the pot. Then I had to refill it and start all over, but forgot again. *sigh*
