Aloha Friday #3

It is Friday again, which means...

Aloha Friday is a time to kick back, relax, and avoid thinking too hard! I like it!

I am staying home today because I hurt my shoulder yesterday. I would like to say it was doing something dramatic...like saving a child from a rabid dog...or even saving my cat from the other neighborhood cats.

But no- I hurt it by reaching out and picking up a gallon jug of vinegar while I was making my marinade for dinner. A gallon jug! Here I am, a Physical Therapist who teaches people about proper body mechanics, hurt because I did not use proper body mechanics. Now, I can't raise my arm without my shoulder hurting really bad. So, obviously, there will be no lifting today, which means no work.

So, my question today is...

What is your most embarrassing or silliest injury?
Check out An Island Life for more Aloha Friday!

I'm not sure this is embarrassing however, when I got married my goal was to not have any knicks, cuts, abrasions or bruises on my hands. I'm always banging up my hands and I wanted them to be pretty for my wedding. Hmmm, I didn't meet that goal.

My hands were ok for our wedding, but my husbands were not! He stopped to help a girl change her tire on the side of the road a week before our wedding. Yes, my knight in shining armor. Because the lug nuts or whatever they are called were cross-threaded, he had a really difficult time getting the tire off and ended up flying of backwards down into the ditch (I believe head over heals) and got a big gash on the back of his LEFT hand. So, in our wedding pictures, my hand is covering his.

around the age of 20, i was playing co-ed softball. i, being the right fielder, ran after a fly ball and ran smack into the center fielder who was also running for the ball. we both went down - hard. that was embarassing and boy, was i sore the next day. not to mention black and blue all over.

I have too many to count! In college I fell on my head in the middle of the student union at lunchtime. I also fell all the way down my friends steps once. In fourth grade I tripped over a desk and had to get stiches in my eyebrow. Yikes! Hope you're feeling better soon...I'm home sick today, too.

I see Andrew hasn't commented about the scars on the back of his head-but wait-there are so many others that are in contention also!
The sad fact is that he probably takes after his dad too much to be restricted to only one.

I stopped by from An Island Life!

My most embarrassing would have to be when I was in high school a BIG group of us (guys and girls) was playing basketball at the local park! I thought I was going to be cool...run down court and do a lay-up...I did it...I didn't look cool doing it (whatsoever) because I slipped and broke my foot!!!! JOY! I just thought I was the "COOL" girl playing ball with all the "COOL" guys! HA!

The main one I can think of is the black eye from getting hit with a softball. No big deal except that it was the same week as the school play in which I sang a solo.

I've had no broken bones, but quite a few black eyes. Including when my wisdom teeth were taken out. Huge shiner!

Yeah, this is embarrassing. I broke my foot in drama club. How nerdy is that? I was moving stage equipment and dropped in on my foot. Still, I was a big geek and couldn't even blame it on sports.

At a gymnastics meet, I ran to do a flip over the horse and accidentally put my hands down, and ended up landing on my face. Broke my nose. I was so embarrassed.

Right now only two are coming to mind for me...
1. I cracked my tailbone in 6th grade when I ran into the bathroom and slipped on the water that I had left on the floor after my shower.
2. I had a variety of Gold Rush injuries, but I think the worst was sneaking through the woods with Paige D. and getting tangled in a thorn bush while wearing shorts.

I feel like I probably have more stories than this though!

I've been very lucky in that I've never had a serious injury. The only one is a scar on my face from my Grandma's dog.

I had a bicycle wreck about a month before my wedding and split my chin open. My mother made me promise to not get on a bike again before I got married!

I havent exactly experienced any serious injury, but I have fallen off my chair infront of so many people...no injury just embarrasing moments:)

Wow! Gold Rush! I have not thought about that in years. I was never brave enough to go too deep into the brush after they found a rattle snake with a squirrel in it's belly one year. I think Ryan W and one of his campers found it and killed it. Of course, they had to bring it back to camp to show everyone.

I broke my pinky finger playing volleyball, when I reached up to hit the ball, it hit my finger wrong.

While no one saw me do this, everyone asked how it happened and I had to tell them. I was pregnant with my first child and we all know the weird dreams you can have when you are pregnant. My husband was a baseball nut and one night I had this dream that I was playing baseball. He pitched the ball and I batted. In my dream the bat flipped part way out of my hand when I hit the ball and the bat hit me hard across the wrist.

I woke up in awful pain and my wrist and lower arm were all swollen. I had the indent of a bat in my arm. Upon looking we saw that the nightstand where we were (spent the night at a friends home) had legs that were about the same size as a bat. Apparently I swung and hit the leg of the table.

I was in a splint for 3 or 4 weeks and wrapped for more. Long enough for everyone to hear the story of my playing baseball, while very pregnant and while asleep!
