Thanks to everyone who contributed to our walk through donations, well-wishing, and prayers. We had an unbelievable show of support for this event, especially on such a short notice. Our team raised over $2,000 in less than 1 week thanks to our amazing friends, family, and co-workers!
We woke up yesterday morning at 4:30 am to drive to St. Louis, where the walk was held. The day was beautiful! It was cool and breezy when we first got there and warmed up as the walk proceeded, so that I was sweating just a little as we finished. We walked 3.2 miles in about 1 hour. I was surprised at how hard it was to be there. There were pictures of children who had not survived as well as mothers carrying babies that had survived. We plan to make this an annual event. We found out...too late...that Columbia has a WalkAmerica event, also. So, anyone who wants to participate next year, let us know.
