Tiffany Who?

OK, so I know I have been AWOL for a while, but I have an excuse!

Friday the 13th!

At 12:20 am on Friday, June 13th, Andrew and I were awakened by the loudest booming sound I have ever heard! Both of us came up out of the bed.

Andrew said, "Wow! That was really close!" We did not know exactly how close until he got ready to go to work that morning...but I am getting ahead of myself.

About 2 a.m., Andrew noticed that he was getting hot, so he got up to turn up the AC. But, it would not turn on. Great! Something was going on.

So, then when Andrew went out to the car in the morning, he found just how close the lightning had been...it hit the tree next to our driveway! Large chunks were blown off of the trunk and there was a huge crack down the opposite side!

When we talked to our neighbor later, she said she had actually been up closing her window when it hit and so she was looking out the window.

So, the lightening must have killed our AC/heater. OK, we can deal with that...but then it got worse. Andrew started noticing problems with our Jeep, which had been parked under "the tree." As it turns out, at least one of the relays was fried by the electrical surge. Well, we will just add that on to our claim, right?

Wrong! Even though the car was parked and not driving, we still have to file a separate claim on our auto insurance...which means a separate $500 deductible. Wonderful! What next?

Well, that brings me to part of the reason I have not been around the blogosphere since then. Our cable modem and router also got hit. So, I have only had sporadic internet access from our neighbor's router. Plus, I worked every day last week because we were really short-handed, so I was exhausted when I got home at night (to a hot house).

OK, well I have to be honest...we have been really blessed by the weather the past week because it would get down into the low 60s at night, so we could just open the windows, turn on the attic fan and most mornings we woke up to a house that was 64-67 degrees!

So, hopefully, I will be able to be around again. We are still waiting on getting our internet fixed, so it may still be sporadic. I will also try to get pictures of the tree posted so you can see the damage. It was pretty impressive!
