I feel like I have finally arrived as a blogger! It only took me a year. "What do you mean?" you may ask.
Well, I have been pleased with the fact that I have not had to enable any comment moderation or word verification on my comments. Everyone who has commented has been appropriate and I have not been getting any spam...until now!
I guess my blog just did not attract enough visitors, or something. But, in the past couple of weeks, I have had to delete three spam comments. Three! After a year of nothing! What is the deal?
So, I am thinking about enabling the word verification option on comments to try to slow that down. Or maybe I will set it where the comment has to be approved before it goes up. Or maybe I will just wait it out until I see if it continues. What do you think? Any ideas? I mean, is three too early to worry about the problem?

I enabled comment moderation after just ONE spam comment. I don't think that will keep anyone from commenting.
Congrats on "arriving!"
I haven't had to do any kind of comment moderation yet - lucky me.
I don't think anyone minds doing the word verification, EXCEPT for those that are too hard...I've commented on some blogs where I honestly couldn't read a couple of the letters in the word verfication. I think that's mainly a Typepad problem.
Yeah, I get spam from time to time. It's so annoying!
I have always had the word verification on my blog. I hope that doesn't slow down possible comments! However for other blogs, I don't mind typing in the word verify, I understand.
Hi,
I've only had my blog up and running a couple weeks and already I've had two spam comments. I have moderation for the first two posts and it seems to work out okay.

It was so weird. After I posted this, I came across another blog asking if anyone else had noticed that spamming had increased lately. I may just wait it out for a while and see if it dies down.
